Alberta Finance And Enterprise , Edmonton - Are you looking for an opportunity to engage in work that makes a positive difference for Albertans and the business community? Alberta's regulatory reform initiative is a government-wide effort. Together with your team members and government ministries, you will support the initiative's overall goal to identify opportunities to improve the quality of regulations and reduce the regulatory burden of government on businesses and citizens.

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Review, you will provide research, analysis, expertise, advice and recommendations related to the Government of Alberta's regulatory reform activities and the ongoing review of regulations. As directed, the position is responsible for:

- Providing research, analysis and policy development to support Alberta's regulatory reform agenda;

- Undertaking research and developing tools for the review of regulations, with a particular focus on financial impact assessment;

- Identifying opportunities for improvements to processes for the review of regulations reflected in Regulatory Impact Reports (i.e., problem identification, policy alignment, consultations, cost/benefit analysis, impact evaluation, and inter-jurisdictional coordination);

- Supporting strategic discussions of the Regulatory Review Secretariat (e.g., preparing briefing materials, discussion papers, reports, etc.); and

- Supporting activities of the Regulatory Review Branch relating to intergovernmental cooperation such as the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Committee on Regulatory Governance and Reform.

To be successful in this position, you will be a strategic thinker with the ability to link long-range visions to daily operational work and thinking. You have an excellent understanding of how regulation impacts business and an ability to link regulatory detail to policy objectives.

Qualifications: The position requires a university graduate in a related field (e.g., business, economics,public administration or social sciences) supplemented by a minimum of two years progressively responsible related experience in research, analysis, policy development, and impact evaluation. Experience in economics and financial impact assessment is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered..
